Poke bowl calories: how to estimate them
A poke bowl is a bowl with a rice (or salad) base, fish or protein, vegetables, sauces, and toppings. Calories depend mostly on the base, sauces, and nuts.
What the calories depend on
The base is the heaviest item: rice adds more calories than a salad-only base. Proteins range from lean tuna to fattier salmon, chicken, or fried tofu.
Creamy sauces (mayo, spicy mayo, sesame-based dressings) and toppings such as avocado, edamame, almonds, or fried onion can noticeably raise the total.
For a realistic estimate it's best to break the bowl down: base, protein, vegetables, and each sauce or topping should be counted separately rather than estimating the bowl as one block.
| Component | Indicative estimate |
| Rice base | 200–300 kcal |
| Salad base | 20–60 kcal |
| Fish/protein portion | 120–220 kcal |
| Sauces and toppings | 50–200 kcal |
